Updated : Apr 23, 2026

Sreeleela has been eagerly awaiting her grand Bollywood debut, but recent developments suggest she will have to hold on to her patience a little longer. The much-anticipated musical romantic drama, directed by Anurag Basu and co-starring Kartik Aaryan, is facing a significant shift in its production timeline.

Initially targeted for a December 2025 release, rumors recently flooded the industry that the film had already completed the majority of its shoot. However, Anurag Basu has officially dismissed these claims as a myth, clarifying that only 45 days of filming have been wrapped so far. For an actress looking to make a strong impact in Hindi cinema, this translates to a massive waiting period, as the project is now estimated to hit screens only by late 2026 or early 2027.

Anurag Basu is a director who presented glam dolls like Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz in different, artistic roles in Barfi. While his recent form after Jagga Jasoos is not great but he might be able to give Sreeleela, the right direction to explore her acting skills and improve them. Hence, despite the delays, the project remains a massive launchpad for her.

Transitioning into a completely new industry often requires navigating shifting schedules and extended production phases. While Basu plans to jump right into his Kishore Kumar biopic immediately after wrapping this film, all eyes will be on how Sreeleela navigates this extended timeline leading up to what promises to be an intense and nostalgic cinematic debut.
